Considering renting versus buying your look for prom. Let's give you the breakdown:
The PROS and the CONS
Renting:
PRO: Bundle pricing. Each garment is part of a whole package: jacket, pant, shirt, vest, and tie
is all for one price.
PRO: Easy schedule to follow. Usually rentals are used over the weekend, pick up is on
Thursday or Friday before a prom and they must be returned in the next two days.
PRO: Rentals can be done fairly quickly and really only needs a few weeks' or even days
notice.
PRO: There are a lot of styles to choose from.
PRO: If it’s a certain look you're after but definitely don’t see yourself wearing it again, rental is
the way to go.
CON: If they are returned late, they incur a fee.
CON: Only minor tailoring can be made, like lengthening a coat sleeve for fixing a hem.
Buying:
PRO: It's for keeps! The major benefit is that you can choose your own suit, mark it for tailoring
to fit your body, and then it’s yours to keep forever and to wear to future events.
PRO: Buying a suit with us only needs a few days notice. Our tailoring department typically
tailors a suit in just a few days.
PRO:Tailoring can be done to exactly your liking, be mindful though, as costs can add up.
CON: A suit only comes with the jacket and pant. Shirts, ties, belts, etc are sold separately.
CON: You are in charge of your own dry cleaning.
TIMING: Not a pro, not a con, just knowledge. Buying or renting takes a tiny bit of planning, as
we either have to schedule a purchased suit in our tailoring department or build in time to order
your rental from our warehouse.
While we love saving the day for a guys who need a suit or tux in an hour, we’d rather you didn’t
put that stress on yourself and us. Plus, we don’t want to charge you our $35-65 rush fee.
The Cost Per-Wear Formula
Ask yourself how often you may need your suit or tuxedo for graduations, interviews, other
weddings, formal events and more. If you’re likely to get more than two wears in a year, buying
would be a better option.
